A great website for Reasonable Vegetarians

Hi, my name is Kelly, and I'm a vegetarian.

That's a sentence guaranteed to strike fear in the hearts of most Americans.

But it shouldn't.  And that's what this site is all about.

One of the nice things about the internet is that you can create a website that reflects exactly how you feel. I created this website for a very specific kind of vegetarian (or vegetarian wannabe).

The Reasonable Vegetarian

...or "Reasonable Veg" as I prefer. There are plenty of sources on the internet where you can find the "usual" vegetarian stuff.  Many of them are intolerant or downright hostile towards non-vegetarians.  You know the ones, preaching to you about the decaying carcasses you're eating and all that.

I honestly believe that plenty of you like the idea of being a vegetarian (for whatever reason), but all the "nut cases" have put you off the idea. You have found that most internet vegetarian sites are fairly aggressive in their promotion of the lifestyle and extremely unforgiving of any other dietary choice.

Well, I'd like you to think of this as a vegetarian site for "the rest of us."  We like the idea of being a vegetarian, and are choosing not to eat flesh of any sort.  If it had a mother and a heartbeat, we don't want it on our plate.  Please don't write to me and tell me that if I ever buy another leather product it amounts to the same thing. That's not what this site is about. So let's save us both the time and aggravation.  We'll say for the sake of argument that this site is intended for anyone who doesn't want to munch on animals anymore, whole or ground up. Period.  If you're a purist, this isn't the site for you.

So, if you are (or would like to become) a Reasonable Vegetarian, this site is for you.  You'll get:

  • healthful eating ideas
  • great tasting recipes
  • helpful resources

So, make yourself at home and explore.  We'll update the site on a regular basis, so come back often.
